The Friends of the Portland Library proudly support and promote the Portland Library by informing town residents of resources and services the Library provides; by securing materials and sponsoring special projects for the Library; and, by encouraging donations to enhance cultural and educational opportunities afforded to the residents of Portland through the Library.

Books for Babies

It’s never too early for children to learn the joy of books! The Friends want to give every new Portland baby a free “Books for Babies” kit. Each kit contains:

Babies Love Books: a Guide for Grown-ups brochure

Grant Received from Eversource in Support of Summer Reading

Janet Nocek, Director of Portland Library and Cathy Probolos, Friends of Portland Library President received a $1500 grant from Patricia Bandzes, Eversource Energy Community Relations and Economic Development Relations Representative, which was used to provide two books for each child living at Chatham Court in support of their Summer Reading program. The books were distributed at an ice-cream social on Monday, August 13.

Second Hand Prose Book Shop

When visiting the Library, take an opportunity to browse the FPL Book Shop.

We have mysteries, general fiction, non-fiction, romance, teen and children’s used books, as well as used DVDs.
